Mr. McGrail has extensive experience in the construction industry. He has been actively involved in engineering and construction activities since 1979. His primary responsibility is the inspection and evaluation of residential and commercial buildings.
Qualifications
John has been a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Nevada since 1981. He is also a State of Nevada Certified Inspector of Structures, and is a NABIE Certified Building Inspection Engineer. His engineering background includes experience as design and project engineer for residential subdivisions, mobile home parks, commercial developments, and general civil improvements. John has been the Las Vegas branch office manager for a large civil engineering firm. His construction background includes experience as engineering superintendent, general superintendent, and construction project manager, for hotels, restaurants, residential subdivisions, and custom homes. John has been the licensed key employee for a Nevada general building and engineering contractor with an unlimited A and B license. He also has been the owner/builder of several custom homes.
John is familiar with all phases of residential, commercial, and industrial construction. His design experience includes single and multi-story wood frame, steel, and reinforced concrete structures. John's construction experience spans the gamut from simple single family tract homes, to highly technical specialized industrial works. John is board-certified as a Building Inspector Engineer by the Building Inspection Engineering Certification Institute. John has been recognized as an expert witness for construction matters and has testified in both Clark County District Court and U.S. District Court of Nevada.
Education
Mr. McGrail is a native of New Jersey. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Cornell University in 1972. After serving five years in the United States Navy as a nuclear submarine officer, John settled in Nevada in 1977. He continued to serve in the United States Naval Reserve, and retired after 25 years with the rank of Commander. John has attended numerous continuing education courses throughout his career, including the Criterium Inspection Training Course for Professional Engineers in Portland, Maine. |
